INGRID SCHUNDER, MBA, CEBT
President & Chief Executive Officer
Ingrid Schunder began her career in eye banking in 1999 in Austin, Texas, at the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank. During her 13 years there, she performed all aspects of eye banking in her role as Technical Director.
Ingrid accepted a position with North Carolina Eye Bank in 2013 as the Supervisor of Recovery Services. In 2016 she earned her MBA with a concentration in Leadership and was promoted to the Vice President of Donor Logistics. Ingrid was responsible for the day-to-day logistical operations of the donor recovery process, hospital development, Medical Examiner and Coroner relationships in North and South Carolina. In 2020, Ingrid led the project for the acquisition of the Lone Star Eye Bank, now Miracles In Sight Lone Star Division. In June of 2022, Ingrid was promoted to President and CEO of Miracles In Sight.
Ingrid served in the United States Army, HHC, 2AD as the Commanding General’s Attendant. Prior to her career in eye banking, she taught high school Spanish and English. Ingrid and her husband of 24 years, Paul Schunder, have two children, Alexander and Gwynned.
KRISTEN MCCOY, MA, CEBT, CTBS
Vice President Business Development and Marketing
Kristen is the Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for Miracles In Sight. Her focus is on surgeon relations, driving new service lines, collaborating with researchers to find treatment options for blinding eye disease, fund development and marketing.
Kristen has over 28 years of eye banking experience and 10 years of tissue banking experience. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton and a Master of Health and Human Services Administration from St. Mary’s University in Minnesota. She is a Certified Eye Bank Technician (CEBT) and Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS). She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) and has served on numerous committees and sub-committees over the years including the Medical Advisory Board, Technician Education Committee, Certification Board, and Research Committee. She has served as faculty for the Technician Education Symposium and Slit Lamp Symposium, training over 500 technicians domestically and internationally. She current serves as Eye Bank Sector representative on the Executive Board for the Global Alliance of Eye Bank Associations (GAEBA).
MIKE TRAMBER, MBA, CEBT, CTBS
Vice President of Operations
As Vice President of Operations, Mike is responsible for developing long-term strategies, creating lean and efficient operational processes, improving customer relationships and monitoring the successes of each operational department.
Mike started his career in the organ, tissue and eye donation industry more than 20 years ago as a recovery technician, where his skills and attention to detail helped him routinely win the coveted Technician of the Month award. His calm demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills and industry knowledge make him an outstanding and successful leader. He later moved to Carolina Donor Services as Tissue Recovery Manager where he led the department to win the Golden Quill and Golden Scalpel Awards for minimal errors in both documentation and surgical technique. Mike came to Miracles In Sight in 2006, where he quickly was able to use his skills to forge many process and procedural improvements and lead the company to become one of the top eye banks in the world. Mike is an advocate for donation. He is active on multiple EBAA committees, leads technician education trainings, and lectures on eye banking domestically and abroad.
After graduating high school, Mike enlisted in the US Army as a laboratory technician and worked towards completing a diploma in surgical technology. He received his Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from Mt. Olive College and his Master of Business Administration from Winston-Salem State University.
SPENCER CARMICHAEL
Controller
Spencer began his career with Miracles In Sight in 2022 as a Financial Analyst. In August of 2022, Spencer was promoted to the position of Controller. Prior to working at Miracles In Sight, he worked for Rush Enterprises and the commercial trucking industry holding various positions. Spencer earned his BSBA with a concentration in accounting from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.
Outside of the office, Spencer enjoys golfing and traveling the country with his wife and two children.
DANIEL MERCADO, B.S., CEBT
Division Director, Director of Recovery
Daniel started his career in the tissue and eye bank industry in 2004. He leads the Miracles In Sight Lone Star Division, serving Central Texas and providing the community with highly specialized services to enhance visual outcomes for patients.
Daniel first came to Lone Star Lions Eye Bank in 2011 as a Certified Eye Bank Technician II, having previously worked as a Certified Tissue Bank Specialist and Surgical Recovery Technician Team Leader at the Blood and Tissue Center of Central Texas. Starting in 2016, he served as the eye bank’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control Director until he was appointed Interim Executive Director in 2018 and named Executive Director the following year.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas A&M University – Kingsville and has served on the Eye Bank Association of America Technical Manual Subcommittee. In his free time, Daniel enjoys hiking, jogging, weight training, and spending time with his family.
LISA BALDWIN
Director of Clinical Services
Lisa began her career in healthcare as a paramedic and preceptor in Randolph County, NC, from 2007 to 2010. Her experience in emergency medical services laid the foundation for her passion for serving others in critical situations. In 2010, she transitioned into the field of eye banking, joining Miracles In Sight as a recovery specialist. Her dedication and expertise quickly led her to the clinical services department in 2011, where she honed her technical skills in tissue evaluation, processing, distribution, and eventually was given the designation of Medical Director Designee.
Recognized for her exceptional leadership and commitment to excellence, she was appointed as Manager of Clinical Services in 2020. In this role, she oversaw the day-to-day operations of both the lab facilities in Winston Salem, NC and Manor, TX. Her responsibilities included managing staffing, training, tissue evaluation, processing, distribution, and the donor eligibility department. Additionally, she was certified as a designated trainer by the Miracles in Sight Medical Director, highlighting her dedication to sharing knowledge and driving efficiencies within the organization. In 2023, she achieved the Certified Eye Bank Technician (CEBT) certification. Building on her successes, she was promoted to the role of Director of Clinical Services in 2024. In this capacity, she provides strategic and innovative oversight to all aspects of the department, ensuring that Miracles in Sight continues to uphold the highest standards of quality and service.
Lisa is renowned as an accomplished trainer, skilled in imparting knowledge and fostering professional growth within her team. Her unwavering commitment to fulfilling Miracles In Sight’s mission drives her to make a meaningful impact in the field of ocular tissue donation and transplantation.
KAYLI GREEN, SPHR
Director of Human Resources
Kayli Green began her career in Human Resources in 2013 at Miracles In Sight. She started out as an HR Assistant and progressed into the role of HR Generalist where she was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. In August of 2022, Kayli was promoted to Director of Human Resources. Prior to working at Miracles In Sight, she graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. In November of 2019, Kayli earned her SPHR certification.
Outside of work, Kayli enjoys staying active in her crossfit gym, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her two children.
SARA KERR, CEBT
Director of Regulatory Affairs
As Director of Clinical Services, Sara provides strategic and innovative oversight to all aspects of the department. She is an accomplished trainer, skilled in driving efficiencies, and works diligently to ensure that Miracles In Sight’s mission is fulfilled. Sara serves on numerous EBAA committees that include Accreditation Board, Certification Board, Exam Committee, Medical Advisory Board, Medical Review Subcommittee, and Statistical Report Committee.
Sara began her career in eye banking in 2007 as a night/weekend recovery and lab technician while pursuing her undergraduate degree in Biology at Loyola University New Orleans. After college, she obtained her CEBT and served as Technical Director for Southern Eye Bank where she continued to hone her technical and leadership skills. In 2016, Sara joined the Miracles In Sight team as the Clinical Services Supervisor overseeing day-to-day operations of the lab including tissue evaluation, processing, distribution, as well as the donor eligibility department.
MARY KINLAW
Director of Surgeon Relations
Mary is an accomplished Director of Surgeon Relations with a wealth of experience in the field of eye banking. Her role as the primary lead of the business development team involves overseeing strategic initiatives that focus on surgeon development, acquisition, and retention. Her expertise in the industry allows her to cultivate strong relationships with surgeons.
Mary works closely with the Regulatory Affairs department to ensure compliance with industry regulations, and she provides assistance to ambulatory surgery centers, surgeons, and support staff to help them navigate complex reimbursement-related challenges associated with corneal transplants. She has two decades of experience in the eye banking industry, with 12 of those years dedicated to tissue banking. She holds the certification of Certified Eye Bank Technician (CEBT) and has served on several Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) committees. Currently, she is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Surgery Society (ASOA) and the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE).
When she’s not working, she enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones, practicing yoga, traveling, and reading.
KSENIA RICHARDS
Director of Fund Development
Ksenia has spent her career in nonprofit organizations’ management and fundraising. A native of Ukraine, she has been calling Winston-Salem home since 2007. Her MA in English from Kyiv National Linguistics University and hands-on experience with managing international projects for the Ukraine YMCA National Office prepared her well for the development path in the USA. During her 15 years at IFB Solutions, Ksenia helped hundreds of donors practice their philanthropy by investing in programs for people who are blind. As Director of Philanthropy, she oversaw all aspects of development from building a strategy to fundraising events, direct mail solicitations, major donor development and stewardship, grants, staff campaigns, and vendor solicitations. She helped to raise millions of dollars to create opportunities for people who are blind in North Carolina and beyond.
Today, Ksenia is thrilled to be a part of the team at Miracles In Sight and stay in the vision field. She is applying her funds development experience and skills to help Miracles In Sight with launching the first ever development department. Ksenia is now busy building relationships to connect individuals, corporations, and foundations to the mission of sight restoration, preservation, and enhancement.
Ksenia received her MBA from Wake Forest University in 2014. She serves on the Boards of the YMCA Camp Hanes, the Triad Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and St. Mary’s Music Academy in High Point. She volunteers with Leadership Winston-Salem and is a proud graduate of its Flagship program in 2020. A world traveler in spirit, Ksenia looks for any opportunity to satisfy her thirst for travelling and learning along with her husband and two children.
MARK MCSWAIN, JD, MS ITM
Director of Information Technology
Mark is the Director of Information Technology. He is responsible for developing and maintaining the technological infrastructure as well as the reporting platform for the organization. Mark has worked in the technology and business intelligence sectors for over 25 years in three diverse industries: healthcare, retail grocery, and airline.
Outside of work, Mark enjoys hiking, camping, weightlifting, and spending time with family and friends. He is also a bit of a history geek and will stop the car for a good museum or roadside attraction.
Kimberly Monroe
Director of Donor Development
Kimberly began her career in donation and transplantation in 2001 and brings extensive experience in tissue, eye, and birth tissue donation. She joined Miracles in Sight in 2025 as the Director of Donor Development, overseeing the Donor Center and Professional Development teams. Her expertise spans donor screening and authorization, hospital development, donor family aftercare, and community relations.
A Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS), Kimberly has served as Chair of the Donor Family Services Council and as a member of the Board of Governors for the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB). She is dedicated to advancing donation awareness and strengthening relationships with referral partners to honor the gift of donation and improve donor outcomes.
Kimberly holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Florida and a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design from Rollins College.
Ryan Cady, CEBT
Division Director
Ryan has over 30 years of eye banking experience and 13 years of tissue banking experience. He started as a per diem with the Missouri Lions Eye Bank & Research Foundation (now Saving Sight) and then moved to New England to learn tissue banking with Tissue Banks International (Keralink) and New England Donor Services (NEDS). Ryan has worked in every role in eye & tissue recoveries with an emphasis on training and evolution of procedures through research and practice. In 2019, Ryan assumed the Executive Director role at the Great Plains Lions Eye Bank at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. During the past 5 years he has helped improve patient outcomes and provided leadership to the Department of Ophthalmology’s administrative team. He holds a bachelor’s degree from McKendree University and is currently working on his MBA in business analytics. He is a Certified Eye Bank Technician (CEBT) and has served on the Accreditation Board for the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) since 2013. Previously, he served on numerous other committees in EBAA, AATB, and as an Advisory Board Member for Life Choice Donor Services (2013-2017) before they merged with NEDS.
A long serving member of Lions Clubs and having a commitment to helping others led to his work in Pediatric Screenings and the KidSight Program while Executive Director of the Connecticut Eye Bank & Visual Research Foundation. A robust approach to resource management and volunteerism garnered him the highest honor given to a Lion- the Melvin P. Jones Award for Humanitarian work in 2015.
Ryan spends most of his free time reading, cooking and traveling with his two children Sarah and Karsten.
