Artist Jennifer McCormick Visits
Artist Jennifer McCormick was a recent guest at Miracles In Sight. Here’s the story…
Jennifer recently participated in the After Dark Artist Collaboration hosted by Industries for the Blind in Winston-Salem. During the collaboration, Jennifer experienced sensitivity training…she was blindfolded and guided by her IFB visually impaired partner, Brenda Neal. Through this experience Jennifer and Brenda created a beautiful piece of artwork that has found a home at Miracles In Sight.
Winston-Salem Journal Profiles Dean Vavra
Dean Vavra got confirmation that the Miracles In Sight eye bank was the right place for him in a dream in 2008.
He had just arrived at Miracles In Sight in Winston-Salem from Denver, Colo., where he had worked in various positions at the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank.
“I had a dream that I was trying to park a big truck in a snow storm,” said Vavra, the president and chief executive of Miracles In Sight. “I couldn’t get it parked, so I kind of just left it in the street. I went through a gate into what was like a community college setting. I walked into the cafeteria, and my mother was sitting in the cafeteria.”

Hannah’s Story – The Gift Of Sight
Hannah Loy was in a car accident December 5, 2010. She did not survive.
Hannah was only seventeen years old. Her parents made the decision to honor their daughter’s wish to become an eye and organ donor.
It is through the selfless act of a teenager and the courage of her parents that Hannah was able to provide sight to two people suffering from corneal blindness.
