Our son John was 39 years old avid player, manager and umpire for softball. John was also a volunteer fireman (taking after his dad and many other family members, some paid, volunteer if not both). John had a heart of gold and also ran softball fundraisers for the families of two young boys accidentally hurt and passed away, and assisted with the Catfish Hunter Softball Tournament. John was very well known and loved by many. Unfortunately, while warming up for a softball tournament, a softball was thrown, and while John was standing in the dugout, gate opened, the ball accidentally hit John on his left side of his temple. Ten or so minutes later, John was rushed to the hospital and then underwent surgery for a TBI. Unfortunately, at the age of 40, John passed on April 21, 2025.
I am so excited to hear John’s donor request was fulfilled with both corneas being able to meet the needs of two recipients.
